Take a deep breath, clear your mind and imagine the bluest water, billowing clouds and magnificent landscapes. That’s what the Destiny Foundation tour for 2012 found on the Amalfi Coast of Italy and Sicily. Featured were an endless panorama of breathtaking vistas in Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi, Capri, Pompeii, Paestum …and then Catania, Taormina, Mt. Etna, Ortigia and Syracusa in Sicily. The journey included fascinating Jewish landmarks and their history. In addition to the magnificent vistas and magic of this mountainous region, the trip was punctuated by the wit and wisdom of Rabbi Berel Wein, providing a glimpse of the world of Jewish Italy of the past – of Pompeii, of the Trani family, of the Roman and Greek relationships and the history of Italian Jewry in the region.
