Except when it contradicts the Torah, Jewish Law requires that we follow the law of the land in which we live. And because, as a people, we’ve moved around so much, applications of this law have been many and varied. Rabbi Wein takes us through the phases of the exile – from Talmudic times to the modern State of Israel, with plenty of stops in between – showing how the root of this Law is to make a Kiddush Hashem.
