The story of David’s rescue from the jealous King Saul reflects more than the events in his life; it is parallel to God’s relationship with the Jewish people. Just as David asserts that God is the shield that protected him from ruin, so to must we remember that keeping God’s ways is the tried and true path that has helped us survive this long and bitter exile.
