Lev HaIvri St is named for a fascinating Rabbi, Rabbi Akiva Yosef Schlessinger. A resident of Jerusalem in the 19th Century, his roots hailed from the Austro-Hungarian Empire where he learned in the Yeshiva of Pressburg. He was such an interesting dichotomy that the Neturei Karta claim him as their founder and at the same time the Zionists say he is their protégé.
