Parshas Parah: Though we like to think of the redemption arriving because of our merits, in Haftoras Parshas Parah, the prophet Ezekiel presents a very different scenario. The Jews have sunk so low that God must gather and purify us against our will. These predictions become eerily familiar when Rabbi Wein relates them to modern history. Yet while Ezekiel’s message is fearsome, there is also much within it to give us reason to hope.
