Parshas Zachor: On the Sabbath before Purim, we read the tragic story of King Saul, the picture of “what might have been.” King Saul was everything a king should be – a warrior, a Torah scholar, and a pious man. But his misplaced mercy in sparing the Amalekite general spelled his own downfall and allowed the wicked Haman to be born. His misjudgment serves to warn all of us about the dangers of second-guessing God.
