Some say the word “haftorah” means dessert, and as the dessert to end this series, Rabbi Wein discusses not only the meaning of the word “haftorah,” but its origins and the customs of its reading in different Jewish communities. Most important of all, he shows how the prophets gave the Jewish people a clear perspective on the major events of their times and shows how their words continue to do the same thing for us even today.
